This Thursday
sees the end of a busy Easter period for residents of Buxhall Crescent E9. This Thursday 4th April,
birch and Giant Redwood trees, of the type found in California, will be planted
on the estate.
Last
week saw the residents taking part in activities on the canal and a trip to Kew
Gardens where they gleaned ideas for improvements and saw established
Redwoods. They also took part in
cycle maintenance and gardening clubs where they planted up hanging baskets and
seeds for the ÔBuxhall in BloomĠ competition. BuxhallĠs gardening club will be working towards the
competition, which is to be held on June 8. The activities are part of an ongoing
project on the estate, a partnership between Groundwork Hackney and Newlon
Housing, which aims to improve the estate through physical improvements, and
which is being funded by SRB2 money via Newlon.
If
you are a resident of Buxhall Crescent and wish to get involved in the
gardening club, which hosts free trips, then contact Catherine Mukhopadhyay at
Groundwork Hackney on 0208 985 1755.
